December 17th, 2007 | 13 Comments | Posted in FMP (Firefox Microsite Project)

For those who don’t know, BackSpaceStudios and PHUG havce been working closely with students from Seneca College in the Digital Media Arts program to develop/contribute Firefox 3 Microsites. The students where split in to development and given 2 weeks to produce a basic concept using WordPress to re-brand Firefox 3.

Last week the FMP presentations began, and I am happy to say that the results where brilliant. There where some very unique presentations and concepts delivered, and everyone had fun!!! Some development teams went all out with there presentations including marketing material, slide shows, flyer’s, some even made shirts…

We are hopping to hear some feedback from Mozilla Firefox representatives soon…

Without further ado, here are a selection of the concepts in no particular order:

FMP Presentations Begin This Week!!!

December 10th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in FMP (Firefox Microsite Project)

This morning we began the first of many FMP presentations scheduled to take place this week. I am very proud of the work my students produced over the past few weeks. Three groups presented their concepts this morning to a group of their peers and faculty. We are looking forward to see what the Mozilla reps think when they have a chance to take a look later next week.

Excitement and fear was definitely in the air this morning when all groups showed up on time and ready to flaunt their stuff. I have to admit the results where outstanding, and I feel privileged to have been able to see so many creative and unique interpretations based on the initial specs for this project.

It’s amazing to see so many passionate and dedicated students driven to succeed!!!

…and we are just beginning…I will continue to post links and screen shots as the week proceeds.

Here are a few examples from this morning

Firefox 3 Microsite Project

December 5th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in FMP (Firefox Microsite Project)

moz01.jpgThe Firefox 3 Microsite Project (FMP) is one of many current ongoing initiatives I’m heading/consulting on, others include PHUG, Pet My Kucha, APNG, other Mozilla open source projects, and teaching part-time at Seneca College in the DMA (Digital Media Arts) program.

Not only are the holidays coming around the corner my plate is full with many creative works on the go. Some say I’m a workaholic, I say “I’m passionate” either way there are many great things to report on.

Current progress on FMP is excellent. Yesterday John Crisp, also faculty at Seneca and FMP leader, and I had the opportunity to take a few pictures in class of the progress. There are a lot of great designs coming out and development is under way. We have 6 more groups to check in on later this week and I will keep you all posted.

Final concepts are due next week and each group will be presenting there concepts to audience of fellow students and professionals. I’m very excited to see the results!

I will post the links to all the concepts when the project is done, so check back soon!

I’m very proud of my students, they have shown passion, drive, and motivation to contribute to open source media and have embraced the FMP full heartedly (…yes they are getting marked on it, but still…)
