PHUG.ca has received a complete overhaul in order to re-organize content as their site goes through it’s growing pains, they have also been busy hosting weekly free workshops geared towards various open source topics.

The concept behind the “FREE YOUR SOFTWARE!” workshops and campaigns is to develop awareness of design alternatives to commercial products. PHUG members have been working hard to generate awareness within the design community hoping create an environment where both developers and designers alike can work together.

FlashPress - Bridging two worlds
FlashPress is an extension to WordPress, which allows the ability to use an essentially PHP based CMS to communicate with a Flash site. The use of the WordPress CMS in Flash overcomes many obstacles involved with maintaining and updating a Flash site.

PHUG - Open Source Culture, has taking the initiative to extend Tim Wilson’s “Press Connect” PHP application in order develop this new project.

On Wednesday Jan 30th PHUG members attended the FlashInTO and presented the FlashPress project. The presentation was received well and led to many new contributers from the Flash world.
